Bison visit us nearly every night at Theodore Roosevelt National Park because they love amateur visual astronomy!

  1. We will be heading up there in two weeks. Hope you will still be there doing your presentations. Do you have a scheduled departure date? Are the presentations nightly or just on weekends. Thanks Bobby White

    1. Hi, Bobby! Yes, we will be here until September 11th, giving both day and night presentations. We will, however, be gone for a few days beginning August 13th, but should be back by the end of that week. We do presentations every day that the weather is good. If it gets extremely hot, we might not do a solar presentation. Wind plays a factor, too. Tickets for the nighttime presentation (if the weather is good) are on a first come, first served basis at the South Unit Visitor Center, which opens daily at 8am. We use this handy site to see the expected viewing conditions for the following day. If either seeing or transparency is average, we will hold a viewing session, which begins at 10pm.

Hopefully we will be able to meet you!

  2. Dickinson Middle School students had a great time on their field trip learning about the planets and sun. Thank you so much for this opportunity and we will hopefully see you again next year.
